Lothar Dornieden
Senior Product Manager · Business Consultant
Translating complex domain expertise into deliverable digital products and processes.
I combine product strategy, business analysis and requirements engineering with business, IT and AI – for clear decisions, sustainable solutions and measurable improvement.
Distinctive domain depth: insurance · claims management · automotive
From domain expertise to impact
From strategy to a stable process.
A clear target vision, conscious priorities and a roadmap that works for the domain and the technology.
What this creates in practice
Selected projects. A concrete contribution. Measurable value.
These examples show how product work, domain depth and technology become robust outcomes.
AI & automation
AI-powered document automation
Scalable IDP/OCR processing for high document volumes.
- Starting point
- High document volumes needed to enter processing faster and in a structured form.
- My contribution
- Domain target vision, requirements, prioritisation and implementation across claims, operations and IT.
- Outcome
- More than 200,000 documents per year and over 70% straight-through processing across the total volume. Cases that could not be automated were routed into controlled manual processing.
- Transferable value
- AI is connected to process logic, quality control and stable operations.
Processes · Business + IT
Digitising a complex partner process
An end-to-end process with external partners, clear responsibilities and transparent status.
- Starting point
- Media breaks, distributed ownership and limited transparency impaired collaboration.
- My contribution
- Process vision, role clarity, requirements and alignment across business, IT and partners.
- Outcome
- A traceable end-to-end process with structured data exchange and transparent status.
- Transferable value
- Complex partner networks become deliverable through clear interfaces and shared process logic.
Decision logic
Rules-based decision and validation logic
Scalable validation through business rules, data and workflow.
- Starting point
- Domain validations were labour-intensive and not consistently traceable.
- My contribution
- Structured rules, modelled decision paths and translated domain requirements into implementable logic.
- Outcome
- Traceable, scalable validation with clear exception handling.
- Transferable value
- Automation remains controllable, explainable and maintainable.
Product strategy · Interfaces
Data and interface modernisation
Redesigning data, communication and commissioning processes across system boundaries.
- Starting point
- Multiple companies and technical systems needed to interact reliably.
- My contribution
- Combined domain data needs, interfaces and commissioning logic into one product and process view.
- Outcome
- An integrated digital flow based on established data standards.
- Transferable value
- Standards create value when data, ownership and operations are designed together.
Transferable product capability
A strong fit for product management and delivery in complex transformations.
I bring structure, clarity and delivery focus to demanding digital initiatives.

Approach
Complexity becomes manageable when it is clearly structured.
I create clear goals, ownership and feedback.
Understand
Capture domain logic, user needs and operational context precisely.
Structure
Turn connections into requirements and actionable steps.
Decide
Prioritise options by value, effort, quality and risk.
Deliver
Align business, product and IT around measurable value and stable operations.
Industry expertise as practical depth
Transferable product capability. Proven in a demanding environment.
More than 30 years in insurance and more than 25 years in claims management combine with transferable methods from product management, business analysis, process design and automation.
- Complex domain and decision processes
- Regulated and data-intensive environments
- Insurers, service providers and technology partners
- Business, operations, product and IT
- Automotive claims management
- GDV data and industry standards
Current work
Concepts and prototypes.
Alongside my current professional transition, I am exploring my own concepts and prototypes around AI-enabled domain applications, automation and product development. The focus is on practical learning, domain assessment and translating new technologies into robust product and decision logic.
- AI domain applicationsTranslate new technology into clear domain use.
- Product conceptsTest ideas and hypotheses through tangible prototypes.
- Decision logicModel rules, data and exceptions transparently.
